I have 20 years experience in illustration for publishing, and have also worked in editorial, advertising, and information campaigns. I can work well on very contemporary subjects, or provide thoroughly researched historical material. I enjoy reading manuscripts and can usually get a good handle on the characters and mood of the text. I illustrated Jean Ure's books for HarperCollins for 8 years, and worked on Magdalen Nabb's very popular Josie Smith series over an even longer period and enjoyed a great working relationship with both authors. I work with pen and ink and watercolour, and provide roughs and finished artwork digitally, or can colour up digitally with a handrawn line as client prefers.
