There's no escaping the fact that the ash cloud travel crisis had an impact on this year's London Book Fair. However, the new Illustrator's Corner in association with childrensillustrators.com proved a roaring success. "It's fantastic to see this new area of the fair championing illustrators", commented Mike Jolley, Art Director, Templar Publishing.
In association with www.childrensillustrators.com, The London Book Fair ran a competition for illustrators, new and established, to have their work displayed in the new Illustrator’s Corner, a key area of the Children's & Young Adult Publishing Zone. The illustrations were judged by Chris Riddell, author, illustrator & political cartoonist for the Observer, Bruce Ingman, author & illustrator and Deirdre McDermott, Picture Book Publisher at Walker Books.
In addition to the winners' artwork display and childrensillustrators.com plasma screen presentation, the Illustrator's Corner also played host to the popular Children’s Illustrators & Art Directors/Editors Networking Reception.

We have just returned from yet another successful year at The Bologna Book Fair.
Our plasma screen presentation, positioned in the popular noticeboard area, proved to be a real eye-catcher. Publishers commented on the strength of the site's talent and reaffirmed its position as the leading source of illustrators within children's publishing.
Throughout the week, our team was busy networking with host of publishers from around the world. In addition to generally promoting the site at the fair, we also managed to secure exclusive on-site interviews (details of which will be released shortly).
Stay tuned for our round-up of The London Book Fair, 19th - 21st April.
