DESIDERIA GIUCCIARDINI

I was born in Firenze in 1954 and I now live in Lecco on the Como Lake.
After finishing the high school with a major in the classics, I started studying modern classics at university.

That is where I developed the passion for children’s literature, and I changed direction and did some courses in illustration and art at Urbino University followed, later on, by evening classes at The Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milano.

I published my first book in 1976, “La Bambola Abbandonata” by Alfonso Sastre published by Emme Edizioni.

Since then I have worked with Emme and other big Italian publishing houses, without many interruptions, illustrating books for children of all ages.

I have participated in exhibitions, the last one being Mostri Selvaggi, Torino, May 2013.

In 2014 I won the Anderson Medal in Italy for best illustrator.
