My mother became pregnant with me while she was studying art at what would become Virginia Commonwealth
University in Richmond, Virginia. So I had artistic exposure at the earliest possible age.

I was then born in Châteauroux, France, about 90 miles south of Orléans. From childhood it became apparent that I was an artist at heart -- I would often immerse myself for hours in the local libraries pouring over the illustrations of the great artists from the Golden Age of book Illustration, my favorites being Edmund Dulac, Arthur Rackham, and Maxfield Parrish. Marveling at the wonderful images, I dreamt that I too would be able to create such fascinating windows to my imagination. I began to draw and develop my skill and particular style from that early age, and I have continued to work to become the best artist that I can be over the years. Determined to illustrate professionally one day, I attended Virginia Commonwealth University and obtained my in Communication Art and Design.

For the first 15 years of my career I devoted myself to mainly advertising art alone, and had the very good fortune to produce art for many of America's leading clients including Coca Cola, McDonalds, Apple Computers, Frito Lay, Purina and a host of others. However, about 10 years ago I rediscovered my first true love, and have since dedicated my art to book and children's illustrations like those I admired in my youth. I've come full circle to the heart of my childhood.

I work in an ink undercoat surmounted by a very tight wax-colored pencil rendering, which allows light to pass through the transparent topcoat and bounce back to the eye, producing brilliant life and color. My preferred subjects are the boundless world of a child's imagination: pure, untouched, and full of wonder.

Over time I've received honors including the Weatherspoon Gallery award and an Addy award. I've learned many things and journeyed far in life, always seeking to perfect my artistic craft, but also striving to keep near the heart and mind of that wide eyed-child who sat entranced with his many books so very long ago. Today I do this from my home studio in the country outside of Atlanta, Georgia, where I live with my wonderful wife Trish, and our very spoiled cat named Micetro.
