Kudu the Tortoise is a chapter book series with the intention of encouraging kids to read and to exercise. Its a new series, with 3 books coming out next year, and possibly more in coming years. I'll be illustrating the first 3 books.

I just finished work for "A Present for a Relative," the first book in the series. The plot centers around a crocodile family with a present for a relative. The book is densely illustrated, with 42 paintings total.

I haven't signed the contract quite yet, but I've agreed to illustrated "The Iliad" and "Roman Myths" for Sterling Publishing. The books will be part of their classics series for children.

I'll include images for this when I can.

I'll be beginning work on "Baba Yaga" for Compasss some time this week, once I've finished the "Rocking Horse" project. "Baba Yaga" is the classic Russian folk tale.

I'm just now finishing up a commission of a painting for the story, "The Rocking Horse," by Jim Lettis. The painting is of a small boy on a rocking horse imagining himself to be a knight in shining armor on a mighty warhorse. The boy is wrapped in aluminum foil, holding a broom handle, and with a pot on his head, and the imagined scene of the knight is above and behind the boy. I'll upload the painting as soon as I can.

In this painting, I'm trying a new oil painting technique that dries quickly(crucial) and allows almost immediate glazing and overpainting. So far so good.
