Gabriele Antonini is an illustrator, who specialises in children’s books, especially animals. He has three pets, two cats Martina and Beale and a dog called Lumpy. However he would like to have a fox. His personal inspiration is his cat Martina.

Gabriele was born in Bolzano, Italy in 1977. He grew up around Italy, Florence, Milan, Adriatic Coast and now lives in Rome. A big childhood influence, which lead him to a career in art, was his grandfather. He was an artist and painted windows in many of the churches in Germany. He then went on to attend a Fine Arts Academy in Florence.

His artwork is Colourful and happy, but he really loves dark and scary illustrations. His work is digital, but also enjoys to draw with colouring pencils. His work has recently been featured in a Kellogg’s campaign in Italy. Gabriele is a member of Illustratori.it, an association for Italian illustrators. His favourite piece of work he has created is an Usborne publisher’s book called “Big book of big machines”.

If he was not an illustrator he would like to be a furniture designer. His favourite book is “Dog’s head” by Mortem Ramsland and favourite movie is “Labyrinth” by Jim Henson. he loves music and is constantly listening to it.
