A few weeks ago I was asked by Tom Anderson from Blackfish Books to be a part of The Great Illustrator Project. TGIP is a project aimed at creating a high quality illustration library, from backgrounds and characters all created by various Artist, that will allow clients to build their own customizable books. I absolutely love this idea because being a filmmaker this is as close to storyboarding and directing as it gets. Instead of just focusing on a single piece of individual art, kids will now have a chance to create much broader projects, which I think will expand their creativity even more.
There are 41 other Artists involved, some of them being top Illustrators in the industry and some of them I have been obsessed with for years. Aside for the idea itself, the quality of Artists that have committed themselves to this is project convinced me that this is something that I have to be a part of.
We just launched a Kickstarter campaign to help us launch this project into its early gears. We are starting off with trying to raise $5,000, half of which will go to art production, and half of which will go to marketing. Please take a look at the campaign and browse thro...

Latest illustrations for a book I just finished illustrating. I tried a few new things with technique and backgrounds, so I thought I would share =)
I decided that my little picture book characters were not ready as originally designed, so I decided to change around some proportions. I think I'm close, they resemble what I had in my mind much more now. I'm going for a softer and more organic look, which will be more apparent in the final draft that I will post soon. Hopefully I will have a book pitch ready by the end of this year! For now, I hope you enjoy the rough draft pencil sketch =)
Here's a new illustration for the current book I'm working on, "Ellen Melon". Book will be released in the Spring of 2013.

Two books that I illustrated have finally been released! The first is titled "Sounds of a Coo", written by Kelly Lambert and published by Outskirts Press. The book is about the sounds that babies make during their first life experiences, such as a first meal, first rain, first snowfall... The Author did a wonderful job writing the poems for each baby, and she wanted to include all races and ethnicities for the babies which made it a delight for me to draw. The book is available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble, and we received pretty satisfying reviews as well =)
The second book I illustrated is titled "Feeling Christmas" and it was written and independently published by Mandy Bare. It's about a young girl's trip to the North Pole to discover that indeed, Santa is real. The timing for "Feeling Christmas" is pretty much right on, and copies of the book are available here.
Here is the latest illustration for my current work in progress, "Ellen Mellon." The book is written by Michael Patrick Stevens, who is also an independent filmmaker. The book was scheduled for released in December of 2012, but was postponed to sometime in early 2013. We are half way there =)
Here is the latest illustration for a book I am currently illustrating, titled "Ellen Melon", scheduled for release in December 2012. This project is moving a bit slower than usual, as I am trying some new techniques, particularly on the backgrounds... But I am hoping to have new illustration samples posted soon =)
A new illustration that I created for a Dutch publisher for a picture book of tongue-twisting rhymes geared at helping children learn the English language. It's an international project featuring illustrators from all around the world, each artist chosen to illustarte one of the rhymes inside the book. I have never been a part of something like this before, so I'm very excited to see what the final product is going to look like. This illustration is a bit different than what I normally create, but I hope you like it =)
"Look at Me...A Chef I Want to Be!", a picture book I illustrated last year, received an Honorable Mention at the Hollywood Book Festival this past weekend. A private awards ceremony will be held at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood on Saturday, July 21. The book is written by Karean L. Chapman and published by Halo Publishing International.
Here's a new illustration for my children's book series =)
