Marie grew up in Worthing, England, and later emigrated to the United States. She got her B.F.A. at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, where she studied painting and film animation.

A successful interactive visual designer for over ten years, she now resides in San Francisco, California, where the weather is only slightly better than Worthing.
