It felt like Christmas when the mailman delivered a large brown box containing my copies of THE INCREDIBLE ADVENTURES OF MARY JANE MOSQUITO! Tomson Highway's magical cabaret is now a picture book suitable for all ages, published by Fifth House/Fitzhenry & Whiteside and illustrated by moi! It is the wise and whimsical story of a wingless little mosquito from Manitoba. The entire script is here, complete with song lyrics, stage directions, Cree vocabulary and challenging tongue twisters, and 72 pages of linocut illustrations.

This was my contribution to "Mash Up" at The Children's Illustrators Studio blog hosted by SCBWI Canada East.  "Mash Up" pairs an author and illustrator and gives them four random attributes in order to create a character. Author and illustrator have no contact with each other and the results are always interesting. Check out all the Mash Ups and other SCBWI blog postings at http://thechildrensillustratorstudio.blogspot.ca/
