Cathy Morrison
Cathy has been a freelance illustrator forever. Her interest in drawing began about the same time she could tell the difference between a crayon and a cookie. She's been going strong ever since, previously working as an animator, graphic designer and illustrator for editorial
advertising. But now Cathy's found her calling as a children's book illustrator and plans to live happily ever after.
Cathy's illustrations for historical fiction trade books are rendered in colored pencil. She also works with educational publishers using an edgy, cartoony style for a fun and whimsical feeling. In either style her characters accurately portray a variety of ethnicity without being stereotypical. Books she has illustrated have won several awards, including the I-Parenting Media Award, Children's Book Sense 76-Recommended List, Forward Magazine's Awards for Book of the Year, Independent Publisher Magazine's Juvenile Fiction Award and Parent's Choice Designation as "Outstanding."
Cathy is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and Picturebookartists.org.
Cathy's clients include Patria Press Inc., Scholastic Publishing, Becker&Mayer Inc., McGraw-Hill Publishing, Fulcrum Publishing, Richard C. Owen Publishing, Kirchoff/Wolberg, Harcourt Publishing, October Strategies Inc., Silver Dolphin, Odyssey Books, Kane Publishing Services, Gingham Dog Press, an imprint of School Specialties, Zaner-Bloser and Pacific Learning.
