John Shelley
Born in Birmingham (UK), studied illustration at Manchester under Tony Ross, then freelance in London from 1983. First major picture book "The Secret in the Matchbox" (1988) was shortlisted for the Mother Goose Award and received a Parent's Choice Award in the US.

Moved to Tokyo in 1987 and became established for commercial
illustration in Japan as well as continuing with children's books. Recently returned to the UK after 21 years in the Far East.

Works internationally for publishers in both the East and West.
