Biography � Hrana Janto Member: Graphic Artist�s Guild, SCBWI Hrana Janto is an artist long inhabiting the realms of History, Fantasy, Myth and The Sacred. Raised and abetted by artist-parents in, she graduated from NYC�s High School of Art and Design and received a BFA from The Cooper Union. She then studied at the School of Sacred Arts while starting her career as a professional Artist and Illustrator. Her commisioned works include historical paintings for the PBS series "Joseph Campbell's The Power of Myth" with Bill Moyers, numerous book covers (including the Chelsea House series "Monsters of Mythology"), the 1992, 1993 & 2001 "The Goddess Calendar� and 1994 & 1995 "Myth and Magic Calendar� for Llewellyn Publications. Hrana co-created the internationally published "The Goddess Oracle" deck, featuring her art and calligraphy, for Element Books/HarperCollins- now published by U.S. Games. Her work has also appeared in the NY Daily News magazine and on a Miramax movie poster. Hrana co-created and painted 110 brush drawings for �The Pocket Idiot�s Guide to 108 Yoga Poses� from Alpha Books. Children's Illustration is another focus. Hrana has painted for a multitude of publishers including Cricket magazine, Click magazine, Macmillan/Mcgraw Hill, Silver Burdette and Ginn, and Simon and Schuster. Childrens' books include �King for a Day�, "Thor's Stolen Hammer" and "the Slvae & the Lion". She also creates portraits and private commissions. Hrana has exhibited throughout the country, including pieces at the Books of Wonder Gallery and a Society of Illustrators show. Hrana lives, paints, and dances in NY's Hudson Valley.
