Fig Taylor portfolio consultant

Looking for career advice? A consultation with Fig Taylor could help get you on track.

Fig has been offering advice to members of the Association of Illustrators since 1986. Prior to and for much of that time, she worked as an illustrators’ agent, including several years spent solely repping children’s book illustrators. She lectures extensively on BA and FdA illustration courses throughout the UK and has been a familiar presence at professional practice seminars organised by the AOI, UCAS and The Artist’s and Illustrator’s Magazine. In addition, she is a regular contributor to The Writers’ And Artists’ Yearbook and lends her expertise to the charity, NABS.

For those who are new to illustration or considering a change in creative direction, Fig also offers private consultations for non-AOI-member artists. Although her specialist interest is publishing, Fig has worked with a wide variety of commissioners and is able to provide a broad and balanced overview of the industry – a vital step towards helping new and aspiring artists to find their niche. Although regularly approached by illustration graduates, Fig is equally happy to advise fine artists, craftspeople and designers wishing to explore a fresh or parallel career in illustration. Established illustrators seeking to explore new avenues are also welcomed. Depending on the specific needs of the individual, Fig can advise on portfolio content and presentation; targeting, marketing and self-promotion plus general pointers on fee negotiation and the pros and cons of having an agent.

A private consultation with Fig costs £40.00 GBP. Call her direct on 44 (0) 20 8847 4211 or email fig_taylor@btopenworld.com for further information.
