Mary Peterson’s images tell (mostly) funny stories.

Her books include award winning Wiggle and Waggle (Charlesbridge) by Caroline Arnold, No Time To Nap (Heyday Books) by Mike Madison and Cat On Wheels (Boyds Mills Press) by Larry Dane Brimner.

Ocean Soup, Tide Pool Poems, by Steve Swinburne (Charlesbridge) is just now making it's debut, February 2010.

Piggies in the Pumpkin Patch (Charlesbridge) which she also co-authored, will be released September 2010.

Mary was born and raised in Iowa on a small farm surrounded by cornfields and lots of animals. Those early years in the company of critters large and small continue to provide inspiration for her art.

Mary works in pencil on paper. She then scans the finished pencil drawing and colors the images in Photoshop© and Ilustrator©. She works in a limited palette and brings a bold sense of design to her images.
